Smartwatches have become quite the rage and we have seen many new devices come to the market over the past few months. Qualcomm is usually thought of in the Android world in relation to their processors but they have recently announced the Qualcomm Toq. Originally Qualcomm had created the device as a developer release but then they decided to release it to consumers to show off their technology in comparison to the others. Coming in at $350 the Toq runs $50 more than Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, but the advantage to the added $50 is that it is not limited in device compatibility.

As for features the Toq brings some new things to the table as well that are definitely worth mentioning. Qualcomm has included a Marisol display inside of the Toq which is their own display technology. The Toq connects to Android devices via Bluetooth and has a minimum OS requirement of Android 4.03, so you aren’t extremely limited on device compatibility there. Displaying your notifications, calls and other information is the 1.55 inch Marisol display that is always on, which brings a bit of concern when it comes to battery life. Qualcomm states that the device will last for days on a single charge, so that is a plus though we need to see how that works in the real world under heavy usage.

Amazon is now carrying the Qualcomm Toq, so if you are looking for a smartwatch and want something a little different than your friends may have be sure to grab one for yourself today!
