Kickstarter and Indiegogo are filled with some amazing things. We’ve seen a great backyard weather station. We’ve seen solar powered roads and even the internet of things reach tooth brushes. Kickstarter has also provided a jumpstart to books, albums, movies and video games.
But this week we found out that Kickstarter is even the place to start entirely new sports.
Teqball is version of football, or as we know it here in America, soccer, that incorporates actual soccer playing skills and a table similar to ping pong. Teqball can be played in singles or doubles. The object of the game is to move the soccer ball across the table, and over the net using just about any body part but ones hands.
The table is called a Teqboard and it’s designed so that the ball always bounces out forcing players to handle and control the ball ever 2-3 seconds. Gameplay around the Teqboard actually improves playing skills that Teqball players would regularly use in football (soccer).
Of course it wouldn’t be called Teq without some actual tech and that’s where the Teqbox comes in. Sensors incorporated into the Teqbox track ball and player movements in real time. The Teqbox is able to tell if players are following the rules automatically while calculating the scores and assessing the individual players skills. That data is tracked and an be downloaded to a Teqball app and shared with friends, and other players through the players mobile device or the Teqball community.
Teqball can be used for warm-up, cool down, rehabilitation, air-air ball handling and ball control, it improves decision making, develops stamina and its easy learning curve means successful moments in the game come early to even beginners. Teqball helps developing the first touch of a player. Playing the game improves one’s basic ball handling skills, which makes Teqball optimal for youth development as well.
Even hollywood director Shane Black, who directed Iron Man 3 has come out and said that Teqball is the sport of the future.
Gabor and Viktor, the inventors of Teqball hope that one day Teqball may become an olympic sport. Videos on their Kickstarter page show Teqball being played by a number of athletes and even famous football (soccer) players. Teqball is bringing football (soccer) into the house.
You can get in on the action and preorder a Teqboard and cover for €179 here at their kickstarter.
