URL shorteners are a great way to get the maximum amount of data out of clicks. However, there are some drawbacks to the standard URL shortners. Firstly, they really just serve as a static link: Meaning one shortened URL points to only one URL. That is all well and good, but what if a company has two different websites – say a mobile and a standard website? If you point a shortened URL at a mobile page, people on desktops will go to the wrong destination and vice versa. We just came across a really interesting new company that takes link shortening to a whole new level: Linkredirector. Here is their AngelList description: “Linkredirector lets you create short links that will forward your visitors to correct destination depending on what device they use, what country they are from and much more.” Peaked your interest? We had a chance to ask the Linkredirector team a few questions about ther URL shortner:
What is Linkredirector?
Linkredirector lets you use one dynamic short link to route visitors to multiple destinations, with real time statistics.
Benefits for marketers – with Linkredirector you can update the URL of your links after you have published them.
Update the links on your printed merchandise or in social media and send your visitors to a new landing page.
Benefits for app developers – Linkredirector providers marketing links that sends your visitors to the appropriate app store instead of your intermediate landing page.
Sending visitors directly to the app store is likely to increase your number of downloads by 15-30% as you will eliminate the bounce rate of your website.
You get real time statistics of everyone that clicks your link. We provide detailed insights in what mobile phone, operating system and browser they are using.
Why did you build Linkredirector? What problem are you taking on?
Your content is often spread out over different web pages and app stores, linking to something isn’t as straightforward as it once was. And while most businesses use some analytic solutions, there are often big gaps in knowledge around what kind of devices the customers use.
How is Linkredirector different from what is currently available?
Linkredirector is SaaS and does not require any integration, server installation or upfront investment of any kind. It takes just a few simple steps to set-up your first dynamic URL which you can update at any time. Linkredirector has a great set of features that empower you to run A/B tests, segment out different consumers groups and analyze traffic coming via your links in real-time.
Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?
Linkredirector is a great SaaS for marketing agencies, app developers or any entrepreneurs who want to improve conversion of their marketing campaigns both on-line and off-line. With Linkredirector, you simply create one dynamic short link or QR code and use it for multiple destinations, create the segments you wish to target like device model, device vendor, OS, browser and send customers exactly where you want them.
No more changing a link, for each client, or different landing pages. You can change the destination of any link, at any time, without changing the actual link itself. Awesome, isn’t?
